Roles & Responsibilities
- Assist the supervising Physical Therapist in delivering personalized treatment plans to improve patient mobility and independence
- Implement therapeutic interventions such as therapeutic exercises, gait training, and functional activities to achieve patient goals
- Monitor and document patient progress, response to treatment, and any changes in condition in the medical record
- Educate patients and caregivers on home exercise programs and safe mobility techniques to support long-term outcomes
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to coordinate care and ensure continuity across services
- Maintain professional standards, safety protocols, and infection control practices while providing compassionate care
Qualifications
- Licensed Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) in New Jersey or eligible for licensure
- Current BLS/CPR certification required
- Prior experience in outpatient or post-acute rehabilitation preferred
- Excellent communication skills and a patient-centered attitude
- Ability to pass facility background checks and meet credentialing requirements
Education
- Associate degree from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in therapeutic exercise, gait and balance training, and functional mobility interventions
- Comfortable with patient documentation and electronic medical records
- Strong clinical reasoning and ability to follow PT-directed plans of care
- Good time management and caseload prioritization to maximize patient outcomes
- Collaborative team player who communicates clearly with patients and colleagues
