Roles & Responsibilities
- Evaluate patients' functional abilities and craft individualized treatment plans that target meaningful daily activities
- Implement therapeutic interventions to improve independence with ADLs and instrumental ADLs
- Collaborate with PTs, SLPs, nursing, and social work to coordinate holistic, patient-centered care
- Document progress clearly and thoroughly in the electronic health record to support continuity of care
- Educate patients and caregivers on strategies, adaptive equipment, and safety to support successful discharge
- Adjust interventions based on ongoing assessment and team input to maximize patient outcomes
- Contribute to a positive clinical culture by mentoring colleagues and participating in team meetings
Qualifications
- Current Occupational Therapist license in Massachusetts (or ability to obtain prior to start)
- NBCOT certification preferred
- Active CPR/BLS certification
- Experience in adult rehabilitation, skilled nursing, or outpatient settings preferred
- Strong clinical reasoning, documentation skills, and ability to work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team
Education
- Master's or Doctorate in Occupational Therapy (MOT or OTD) from an accredited program
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in ADL assessment and adaptive equipment recommendations
- Familiarity with therapeutic modalities and functional/task-oriented treatment
- Proficient with electronic health records and timely documentation
- Excellent communication and patient education skills
- Ability to prioritize caseloads and manage time efficiently
- Comfort working in fast-paced rehab and transitional care environments
