Roles & Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough speech and language evaluations to identify patient needs
• Develop individualized treatment plans that promote meaningful progress
• Provide evidence-based therapy for articulation, language, cognitive-communication, and swallowing disorders
• Document patient progress clearly and timely in the electronic health record
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate care and improve outcomes
• Educate patients, families, and caregivers to support carryover and independence
• Participate in care planning and discharge recommendations to ensure safe transitions

Qualifications

• Active state license to practice as a Speech Language Pathologist (Virginia license preferred or ability to obtain prior to start)
• ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) preferred or equivalent clinical experience
• Minimum clinical experience working with adult rehabilitation populations preferred
• Strong clinical reasoning and documentation skills
• Current BLS/CPR certification (as required by facility)
• Ability to pass background checks and meet facility onboarding requirements

Education

• Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology or related field required

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in dysphagia assessment and management
• Proficient with standardized and informal assessment tools
• Experience with cognitive-communication and language intervention strategies
• Comfortable collaborating with occupational and physical therapy teams
• Familiarity with electronic health records and timely documentation
• Strong communication, time management, and patient-family education abilities
