Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist physical therapists in implementing individualized treatment plans that help patients regain mobility and independence
• Provide hands-on therapeutic interventions including gait training, therapeutic exercise, and modalities under PT oversight
• Document patient progress clearly and promptly in the medical record to support care continuity
• Educate patients and families on home exercise programs and safe functional strategies
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate care and support patient-centered goals
• Maintain a safe treatment environment and follow infection control and facility protocols
• Support discharge planning by communicating patient progress and equipment needs

Qualifications

• Licensed or eligible for licensing as a Physical Therapist Assistant in New Jersey (must obtain NJ license prior to start if required)
• Graduate of an accredited PTA program (associate degree or equivalent)
• Current BLS/CPR certification
• Comfortable working across the continuum of care in a fast-paced rehab setting
• Strong communication skills and a positive, patient-centered attitude
• Travel or contract experience is a plus but not required — we welcome adaptable clinicians

Education

• Associate Degree in Physical Therapist Assistant (graduation from an accredited PTA program required)

Knowledge & Skills

• Familiarity with therapeutic exercise, gait training, transfer techniques, and use of assistive devices
• Skilled in patient assessment, documentation, and progress note writing
• Knowledge of safety and infection control practices in clinical settings
• Ability to follow treatment plans and adjust cues under PT supervision
• Good time management, organization, and teamwork skills
• Comfort with basic electronic medical record documentation
