Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, skilled occupational therapy services under the supervising OT
- Implement individualized treatment plans that help patients regain independence in daily living
- Assist with ADL training, adaptive equipment recommendations, and therapeutic activities
- Document patient progress clearly and timely to support continuity of care
- Collaborate with nurses, therapists, and interdisciplinary team members to optimize outcomes
- Educate patients and families on home programs and adaptive strategies to maintain gains
- Contribute to a positive, safety-focused environment that promotes rehabilitation and dignity
Qualifications
- Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) credential required
- Active or eligible for New Jersey COTA licensure
- Current BLS/CPR certification preferred or willing to obtain
- Comfortable working under OT supervision in a fast-paced rehabilitation environment
- Strong communication skills and a patient-centered approach
- Previous experience in inpatient rehab or similar settings is a plus
Education
- Associate degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant or equivalent from an accredited program
Knowledge & Skills
- Solid knowledge of ADL training, transfers, and adaptive equipment
- Skilled in implementing therapeutic activities aimed at functional independence
- Proficient documentation and clinical reasoning skills
- Ability to collaborate across disciplines and communicate effectively with patients and families
- Time management and caseload prioritization to keep patient flow smooth
- Comfort with rehabilitative equipment and safety-focused care
