Roles & Responsibilities
- Assess clients' functional abilities and create person-centered OT plans that make daily life easier
- Implement therapeutic activities to improve independence in ADLs and IADLs
- Collaborate with nurses, PTs, SLPs, and the care team to coordinate cohesive rehabilitation plans
- Document progress clearly and timely in the medical record to support outcomes and continuity of care
- Train and supervise COTA support when appropriate to maximize team impact
- Educate patients and families on home programs, adaptive equipment, and safety strategies
Qualifications
- Licensed Occupational Therapist (OTR) in the state of Maine or ability to obtain state licensure prior to start
- Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) credential accepted if applying for COTA role
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or willing to obtain
- Comfortable working in an inpatient rehabilitation/contract setting and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams
- Strong documentation skills and ability to meet productivity/quality expectations
Education
- Entry-level or higher degree in Occupational Therapy (BS/BSOT, MOT, or OTD) or completion of an accredited OTA program for COTA
- State licensure/credentialing as required
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in ADL assessment and therapeutic interventions
- Knowledge of adaptive equipment, splinting basics, and environmental modifications
- Ability to write clear, goal-directed documentation
- Strong clinical reasoning and patient education skills
- Team-focused communication and time management
