Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, evidence-based nursing care to patients in a correctional facility
- Assess, triage, and document patient conditions accurately and promptly
- Administer medications, perform treatments, and manage wound care as ordered
- Collaborate with security and multidisciplinary teams to maintain a safe environment
- Respond to and manage urgent clinical situations with calm and competence
- Maintain accurate electronic medical records and follow facility policies
- Educate patients on care plans, medications, and health maintenance within the facility context
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Pennsylvania
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required; ACLS preferred or available
- Previous experience in correctional health or urgent care settings is a plus
- Ability to pass background check, drug screen, and facility security clearance
- Comfort working in a secure, jail environment where cell phones are restricted
- Willingness to work evenings and all days of the week as scheduled for this assignment
Education
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong clinical assessment and triage skills
- Medication administration and documentation proficiency
- Good judgment in emergency response and basic life support
- Familiarity with infection control and universal precautions
- Effective communication with patients, security, and clinical teams
- Experience with electronic health records and accurate charting
- De-escalation techniques and working safely in secure environments
