Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide skilled occupational therapy interventions under the supervision of an OTR to help patients regain independence
• Conduct patient assessments, document progress, and develop individualized treatment plans
• Collaborate with nurses, therapists, and physicians to coordinate patient-focused care plans
• Train patients and families on adaptive techniques, home safety, and equipment use to support long-term success
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and adhere to facility policies and regulatory standards
• Contribute to a positive, recovery-focused environment by supporting interdisciplinary team goals

Qualifications

• Current COTA credential (Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant)
• State licensure or ability to obtain state authorization where required
• Minimum experience working in inpatient rehab, skilled nursing, or similar settings preferred
• Current CPR/BLS certification as required by facility
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and comfort with clinical documentation

Education

• Associate degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant or related field (or equivalent education and training)

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in therapeutic activities, ADL retraining, adaptive equipment assessment and training
• Knowledge of rehabilitation principles and ability to modify treatment to meet patient needs
• Proficient with electronic medical records and clinical documentation best practices
• Ability to collaborate effectively within an interdisciplinary team
• Strong time management, prioritization, and patient-education skills
