Roles & Responsibilities
- Deliver compassionate, evidence-based physical therapy treatments under the direction of the supervising PT
- Assist residents with therapeutic exercises, gait training, and mobility interventions to improve function and independence
- Document progress, treatment notes, and outcome measures accurately and in a timely manner
- Collaborate with nursing and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate safe, person-centered care plans
- Educate residents and families on home exercise programs, injury prevention, and mobility strategies
- Ensure equipment is used and maintained safely, reporting concerns promptly
Qualifications
- Current, active PTA license or certification (or eligible) in Kentucky
- Completion of an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant program
- CPR/BLS certification required; additional certifications a plus
- Comfortable working with geriatric and long-term care populations
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset
- Travel/contract experience is a plus but not required
Education
- Associate degree from an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant program
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of therapeutic exercise techniques, modalities, and adaptive equipment
- Skilled in safe patient handling, transfers, and gait training
- Proficient documentation and charting skills
- Ability to assess functional mobility and implement treatment plans
- Strong interpersonal skills for working with residents, families, and team members
