Roles & Responsibilities
- Assess speech, language, cognitive-communication, and swallowing function using evidence-based tools
- Develop individualized treatment plans that support functional goals and quality of life
- Implement skilled therapy and adjust approaches based on patient progress
- Document evaluations, treatment plans, and progress notes clearly and timely in the EHR
- Collaborate with nursing, PT/OT, social work, and family members to coordinate care
- Provide caregiver education and training to support carryover of strategies
- Participate in interdisciplinary meetings to advocate for patient needs and discharge planning
Qualifications
- Current Massachusetts SLP license required
- ASHA CCC-SLP preferred or equivalent clinical credential
- Experience working with adult/geriatric populations, including dysphagia management
- Strong clinical documentation and assessment skills
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills; compassionate bedside manner
- Current CPR/BLS certification if required by facility policies
Education
- Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology or related field (required)
Knowledge & Skills
- Clinical expertise in dysphagia evaluation and management
- Knowledge of standardized assessment tools for speech, language, and cognition
- Skilled in creating measurable, functional treatment goals
- Proficiency with electronic health records and timely documentation
- Ability to collaborate in interdisciplinary care planning
- Time management and caseload prioritization for efficiency and quality
