Roles & Responsibilities
- Evaluate patients thoroughly and identify communication and swallowing needs
- Develop individualized treatment plans that target measurable outcomes
- Provide skilled speech and language therapy to adults in a rehab setting
- Collaborate with nurses, therapists, and physicians to coordinate care
- Document patient progress accurately and timely in the medical record
- Educate patients and families to support carryover and improved outcomes
- Participate in team meetings and discharge planning to optimize transitions
Qualifications
- Active Mississippi SLP license required
- ASHA CCC-SLP preferred or equivalent clinical certification
- Experience in skilled nursing or inpatient rehab settings is a plus
- Strong clinical skills in dysphagia management and cognitive-communication disorders
- Current Basic Life Support / CPR preferred or required by facility
- Excellent documentation skills and familiarity with therapy billing/medicare processes
Education
- Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology (or equivalent)
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in assessment and treatment of speech, language, cognition, and swallowing
- Knowledge of dysphagia evaluation and safe diet/strategies
- Comfortable with therapy documentation and goal writing
- Strong interpersonal skills for team-based care and family education
- Ability to adapt therapy to complex medical and geriatric populations
- Familiarity with electronic health records and timely charting
