Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality respiratory care and therapies to patients across the care continuum
• Operate and troubleshoot respiratory equipment with confidence and attention to safety
• Assess patient respiratory status, document findings, and adjust treatments per protocol
• Collaborate with nurses, physicians, and the interdisciplinary team to develop and implement care plans
• Educate patients and families on lung disease management, inhaler technique, and discharge instructions
• Respond promptly to respiratory emergencies and participate in rapid response situations
• Maintain accurate clinical records and comply with facility policies and regulatory standards

Qualifications

• Current state Respiratory Therapist license or eligible to obtain licensure in Rhode Island
• NBRC credential (RRT or CRT) preferred
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; ACLS and PALS preferred or obtainable
• Minimum clinical experience delivering respiratory care in acute care settings preferred
• Strong clinical judgment, communication skills, and teamwork orientation

Education

• Associate degree in Respiratory Therapy or equivalent; Bachelor’s degree preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid knowledge of ventilator management, oxygen therapy, and airway care
• Proficient in arterial blood gas interpretation and titration of respiratory treatments
• Comfortable using electronic medical records and documenting care clearly
• Skilled at patient and family education with a compassionate bedside manner
• Able to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
