Roles & Responsibilities
- Assess patients' functional abilities and develop individualized occupational therapy plans
- Deliver evidence-based therapeutic interventions to improve independence and quality of life
- Educate patients and caregivers on adaptive strategies, home programs, and safety
- Collaborate with nurses, PTs, SLPs, and the interdisciplinary team to coordinate care
- Document thorough, timely clinical notes and progress toward measurable goals
- Adapt treatment based on patient response and prioritize patient-centered outcomes
Qualifications
- Valid California Occupational Therapy license (required)
- NBCOT certification preferred
- Active CPR/BLS certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Experience working with adult or geriatric populations in rehab or skilled nursing settings preferred
- Excellent clinical reasoning, documentation, and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to work effectively as part of an interdisciplinary team
Education
- Master's or Doctorate degree in Occupational Therapy (MOT/OTD) or equivalent
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in functional assessments, ADL training, and adaptive equipment recommendations
- Strong documentation and care planning skills
- Knowledge of therapeutic modalities and activity-based interventions
- Good time management and caseload prioritization
- Comfortable coaching patients and families with a clear, compassionate approach
