Roles & Responsibilities
- Deliver safe, effective therapeutic interventions under the supervision of the treating Physical Therapist
- Collaborate with patients, families, and the interdisciplinary team to reach functional goals
- Document patient progress accurately and timely in the facility charting system
- Assist with therapeutic exercise, gait training, transfers, and modalities as directed
- Educate patients and caregivers on home programs and safe mobility techniques
- Support quality initiatives and maintain compliance with facility and regulatory standards
Qualifications
- Current and unrestricted Physical Therapist Assistant license in Mississippi (or ability to obtain prior to start)
- Certified in CPR/BLS for healthcare providers
- Experience working in post-acute, rehab, or skilled nursing environments preferred
- Strong communication skills and a patient-centered approach
- Ability to pass required background checks and health screenings
- Current TB screening and immunizations per facility policy
Education
- Associate degree from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in therapeutic exercise, transfers, gait training, and functional mobility strategies
- Proficient with documentation and outcomes measurement in a clinical setting
- Knowledge of safety and fall-prevention techniques for geriatric and medically complex patients
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary care team
- Good clinical reasoning and time-management skills to prioritize patient needs
