Roles & Responsibilities

• Prepare and assist with accurate dispensing of medications under pharmacist supervision
• Maintain medication inventory, restock supplies, and document usage precisely
• Follow facility medication security and custody procedures required for correctional settings
• Accurately record medication administration and maintain clear, compliant documentation
• Communicate professionally with pharmacists, nursing staff, and security personnel to coordinate patient needs
• Participate in orientation and training to ensure safe, efficient workflow at Ironwood State Prison

Qualifications

• PHTEC classification (Pharmacy Technician) as listed in the order
• Completion of the two-week orientation is required at assignment start
• Prior pharmacy technician experience preferred; correctional or institutional experience a plus
• Ability to pass facility-required background/security screening and follow correctional protocols
• Strong attention to detail and reliable attendance for the Mon-Wed schedule

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent required; Pharmacy Technician certification or training preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Medication dispensing processes and safe handling practices
• Inventory control and documentation best practices
• Familiarity with pharmacy workflows and basic calculations
• Clear communication skills for working with clinical and security teams
• Professionalism in a correctional healthcare environment and adherence to policies
