Roles & Responsibilities

• Prepare and dispense medications accurately following facility and legal guidelines
• Maintain medication inventory and perform routine stock checks to ensure availability
• Document medication administration and keep accurate patient and pharmacy records
• Collaborate with nursing and medical staff to support safe medication practices
• Follow infection control and safety protocols specific to the correctional healthcare setting
• Participate in orientation and training to learn facility-specific processes and systems

Qualifications

• Active Pharmacy Technician license or certification as required by California
• Prior experience as a Pharmacy Technician preferred; correctional healthcare experience a plus
• Ability to pass background check and any facility-specific clearance requirements
• Reliable attendance for a Monday–Friday daytime schedule
• Basic computer skills and comfort with electronic medication records
• Up-to-date immunizations and TB screening as required by the facility

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Pharmacy Technician certification (PTCB or state-recognized) preferred/required per state rules

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of medication preparation, labeling, and dispensing procedures
• Familiarity with inventory control and medication storage requirements
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in documentation
• Good communication skills for working with multidisciplinary teams
• Understanding of state and federal pharmacy regulations and safety practices
