Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide safe, compassionate nursing care to patients in a medical area, prioritizing assessment and clinical decision-making
• Administer medications and treatments accurately and document patient responses
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to coordinate patient care plans and transitions
• Perform thorough charting and maintain accurate medical records in compliance with facility standards
• Monitor patient status, recognize changes, and escalate concerns to providers promptly
• Support a safe environment by following infection control practices and correctional facility protocols
• Participate in orientation and ongoing training to maintain skills and compliance

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license — California RN preferred/required
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; advanced certifications encouraged
• Experience in medical-surgical, correctional, or forensic nursing is a strong plus
• Ability to pass required background and credentialing for facility access
• Strong communication, documentation, and patient assessment skills
• Willingness to work the posted schedule (Saturday-Wednesday, 1:30 PM - 10:00 PM)

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) — BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Clinical assessment and patient triage skills
• Medication administration and IV therapy knowledge
• Familiarity with electronic medical records and precise charting
• Infection prevention and control practices
• Ability to work safely within correctional facility policies and procedures
• Team collaboration and clear communication under pressure
