Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide skilled therapeutic interventions under the direction of the PT to improve patient function and independence
- Assist with patient assessments, carry out treatment plans, and document progress clearly and promptly
- Deliver purposeful therapeutic exercises, gait training, balance activities, and functional mobility practice
- Educate patients and caregivers on home programs, safe transfers, and fall prevention to support long-term outcomes
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to coordinate care and advocate for patient needs
- Maintain professional documentation and compliance with facility policies and regulatory standards
Qualifications
- Licensed Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) or eligible for licensure in Virginia
- Current BLS/CPR certification
- Comfortable working in an outpatient/rehab environment (Powerback facility experience a plus)
- Ability to pass background check and provide current immunizations as required
- Strong communication and documentation skills; teamwork mindset
Education
- Associate Degree in Physical Therapist Assistant or related field
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in therapeutic exercise prescription and progressions
- Experience with gait training, transfers, balance and functional mobility
- Proficient with clinical documentation and electronic medical records
- Knowledge of safety protocols, infection control, and patient handling
- Excellent patient education and interpersonal skills
