Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate therapeutic interventions under the direction of the physical therapist to help patients regain mobility and function
- Assist with therapeutic exercises, gait training, transfers and functional activities to maximize patient independence
- Perform patient assessments and document progress, communicating changes to the supervising PT and interdisciplinary team
- Set up and maintain treatment areas and equipment to ensure safe, effective care
- Educate patients and families on home programs, adaptive techniques and safety to support continuity of care
- Contribute to care planning and discharge recommendations to help patients move forward confidently
Qualifications
- Current PTA licensure in Massachusetts (or eligibility to obtain licensure prior to start)
- Graduation from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program
- Current CPR/BLS certification
- Clinical experience working with adult rehabilitation populations preferred
- Ability to pass background checks and required facility onboarding
Education
- Associate degree or certificate from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong therapeutic exercise and functional mobility skills
- Familiarity with documentation systems and care planning
- Excellent communication and patient education abilities
- Ability to work collaboratively with PTs, nurses and the interdisciplinary team
- Safe patient handling and transfer techniques
