Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, resident-centered care to older adults
- Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting
- Support safe mobility and transfers, encouraging independence where possible
- Observe and document resident conditions, reporting changes to nursing staff promptly
- Help maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for residents
- Engage residents in social activities and meaningful interactions to support wellbeing
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team to deliver high-quality care
Qualifications
- GNA (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) certification required
- Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or obtain upon hire
- Valid Maryland GNA registration or eligibility to register in Maryland
- Prior experience working with geriatric or long-term care populations preferred (1+ year is a plus)
- Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a care team
- Ability to pass background checks and meet facility onboarding requirements
Education
- High school diploma or GED
- Completion of an accredited GNA training program
Knowledge & Skills
- Understanding of geriatric care principles and elder needs
- Basic clinical skills: taking vital signs, assisting with ADLs, and infection control
- Familiarity with electronic charting or willingness to learn
- Good observation and documentation habits
- Compassionate, patient-focused approach and strong interpersonal skills
- Time management and ability to prioritize resident safety
