Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, resident-centered care to older adults
• Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting
• Support safe mobility and transfers, encouraging independence where possible
• Observe and document resident conditions, reporting changes to nursing staff promptly
• Help maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for residents
• Engage residents in social activities and meaningful interactions to support wellbeing
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team to deliver high-quality care

Qualifications

• GNA (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) certification required
• Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or obtain upon hire
• Valid Maryland GNA registration or eligibility to register in Maryland
• Prior experience working with geriatric or long-term care populations preferred (1+ year is a plus)
• Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a care team
• Ability to pass background checks and meet facility onboarding requirements

Education

• High school diploma or GED
• Completion of an accredited GNA training program

Knowledge & Skills

• Understanding of geriatric care principles and elder needs
• Basic clinical skills: taking vital signs, assisting with ADLs, and infection control
• Familiarity with electronic charting or willingness to learn
• Good observation and documentation habits
• Compassionate, patient-focused approach and strong interpersonal skills
• Time management and ability to prioritize resident safety
