Roles & Responsibilities
- Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, and grooming with dignity and respect
- Provide compassionate, person-centered care tailored to each resident
- Help with safe transfers and mobility assistance while using proper body mechanics
- Observe and report changes in resident condition to nursing staff promptly
- Document care activities accurately and timely in the resident chart
- Support social and recreational activities to promote resident engagement and well-being
- Collaborate with the care team to ensure a consistent, high-quality resident experience
Qualifications
- Active GNA certification (state-specific credentials required)
- Current CPR/BLS certification or willingness to obtain before start
- Up-to-date immunizations and TB screening per facility policy
- Comfortable working with geriatric populations, dementia care experience a plus
- Reliable, compassionate, and team-oriented with strong communication skills
- Previous long-term care or skilled nursing experience preferred
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of an approved GNA program or state-recognized nursing assistant training
Knowledge & Skills
- Geriatric care principles and person-centered approaches
- Basic infection control and hand hygiene practices
- Safe resident handling and transfer techniques
- Observation skills to recognize subtle changes in condition
- Effective documentation and communication with interdisciplinary teams
- Time management and prioritization in a fast-paced setting
