Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living including bathing, dressing, and toileting with dignity and compassion
• Monitor and record vital signs and behavioral changes, reporting concerns promptly to nursing staff
• Provide meaningful companionship and emotional support to residents, helping improve quality of life
• Assist with mobility and safe transfer techniques to prevent falls and promote independence
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation of care and communicate clearly with the care team and families
• Follow infection control procedures and facility policies to maintain a safe environment
• Contribute to a positive, team-oriented atmosphere by supporting coworkers and participating in huddles

Qualifications

• Current GNA certification (required)
• CPR/BLS certification preferred or willing to obtain
• Comfortable working with geriatric populations and assisting with ADLs
• Strong communication skills and an upbeat, patient-centered attitude
• Ability to pass background checks and required health screenings
• Previous long-term care or assisted living experience is a plus

Education

• High school diploma or GED
• Completion of an accredited Geriatric Nursing Assistant program

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of geriatric care principles and common age-related conditions
• Skill in safe patient handling and transfer techniques
• Basic clinical skills: taking vitals, observing changes, documenting care
• Familiarity with infection prevention and standard precautions
• Ability to build rapport with residents and work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team
• Good time management and the ability to prioritize resident needs
