Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, resident-centered care that preserves dignity and comfort
- Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting
- Take and record vital signs accurately and report any changes to nursing staff
- Support safe mobility and transfers, using proper body mechanics and assistive devices
- Follow individualized care plans and document resident progress clearly
- Maintain a clean, safe environment and adhere to infection prevention protocols
- Communicate effectively with the interdisciplinary team and residents’ families
Qualifications
- Current Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) certification or equivalent in Maryland, or eligible to obtain
- BLS/CPR certification preferred or willingness to obtain upon hire
- Demonstrated experience working with older adults or in long-term care settings is a plus
- Strong communication skills and a compassionate, patient-focused approach
- Ability to pass required background checks and health screenings
Education
- High school diploma or GED required; completion of an approved GNA program preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of basic geriatric care principles and age-related conditions
- Skillful in safe resident handling, transfers, and fall prevention
- Familiarity with infection control practices and PPE use
- Ability to observe and report changes in resident condition
- Basic documentation and charting skills
- Team-oriented mindset with strong interpersonal skills
