Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, resident-centered care that preserves dignity and comfort
• Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting
• Take and record vital signs accurately and report any changes to nursing staff
• Support safe mobility and transfers, using proper body mechanics and assistive devices
• Follow individualized care plans and document resident progress clearly
• Maintain a clean, safe environment and adhere to infection prevention protocols
• Communicate effectively with the interdisciplinary team and residents’ families

Qualifications

• Current Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) certification or equivalent in Maryland, or eligible to obtain
• BLS/CPR certification preferred or willingness to obtain upon hire
• Demonstrated experience working with older adults or in long-term care settings is a plus
• Strong communication skills and a compassionate, patient-focused approach
• Ability to pass required background checks and health screenings

Education

• High school diploma or GED required; completion of an approved GNA program preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of basic geriatric care principles and age-related conditions
• Skillful in safe resident handling, transfers, and fall prevention
• Familiarity with infection control practices and PPE use
• Ability to observe and report changes in resident condition
• Basic documentation and charting skills
• Team-oriented mindset with strong interpersonal skills
