Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate personal care and support for geriatric residents, helping with activities of daily living
- Assist nursing staff with mobility, transfers, and safe positioning
- Observe and report changes in resident condition to the clinical team promptly
- Document care accurately and timely in resident records
- Support mealtime assistance and ensure residents receive proper nutrition
- Maintain a safe, clean, and respectful environment for residents and their families
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to promote resident dignity and quality of life
Qualifications
- GNA certification required
- Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or must obtain upon hire
- Ability to pass background check and drug screening as required by facility
- Up-to-date immunizations per facility policy
- Comfortable assisting with resident mobility and transfers; ability to lift and move patients with proper technique
- Strong communication skills and a compassionate, patient-centered approach
- Previous experience in geriatric or long-term care settings preferred
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent
- GNA certification (required)
Knowledge & Skills
- Hands-on experience with personal care and ADLs
- Vital signs measurement and basic clinical observation
- Infection control and safe hygiene practices
- Accurate documentation and charting habits
- Effective communication with residents, families, and clinical staff
- Time management and the ability to prioritize resident needs
