Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate direct care to residents, assisting with daily living activities
• Monitor resident condition and report changes promptly to nursing staff
• Assist with safe transfers, mobility, and ambulation to promote independence
• Support mealtime routines and document intake as required
• Maintain a clean, safe, and respectful environment for residents
• Build trusting relationships with residents and their families through kind communication
• Follow infection control practices and facility policies consistently
• Participate in shift handoffs and accurate documentation to ensure continuity of care

Qualifications

• Current Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) certification in the applicable state
• Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification preferred or required by facility
• Up-to-date immunizations and TB screening as required by the employer
• Ability to pass background check and drug screen
• Previous experience in long-term care or geriatric settings preferred but caring attitude matters most
• Strong communication skills and the physical ability to assist with resident mobility

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent
• GNA certification or state-equivalent nursing assistant credential

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of basic geriatric care principles and activities of daily living support
• Comfortable with documentation and following care plans
• Ability to observe and report changes in resident condition
• Person-centered approach with patience and empathy
• Basic infection control and safety practices
