Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, resident-centered care to geriatric patients with dignity and respect
• Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility
• Monitor and document vital signs, behaviors, and changes in condition accurately and timely
• Support safe meal service and assist with feeding when needed, honoring dietary needs
• Collaborate with nursing staff and interdisciplinary team to implement personalized care plans
• Maintain a safe, clean environment and report safety concerns or incidents promptly
• Communicate clearly and empathetically with residents and families to support emotional needs
• Adhere to facility policies, infection control standards, and state practice guidelines

Qualifications

• Active GNA certification (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) - required
• Current, valid state authorization to practice in Maryland (as applicable)
• Current CPR/BLS certification (preferred or required by many facilities)
• Comfortable working the 3:00 PM - 11:00 PM shift and adapting to resident needs
• Compassionate bedside manner, strong communication skills, and reliability
• Prior experience in long-term care or geriatric settings is a plus

Education

• High school diploma or GED
• Completion of an approved GNA training program and certification

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of geriatric care principles and common age-related conditions
• Proficient in assisting with ADLs and safe patient handling techniques
• Accurate documentation and basic charting skills
• Ability to recognize changes in condition and escalate appropriately
• Strong interpersonal skills and teamwork in a multidisciplinary environment
• Infection control practices and safe use of PPE
