Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate direct care to geriatric residents, supporting comfort and dignity
• Assist with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming, and feeding
• Monitor resident condition and accurately document observations and changes
• Support safe mobility and transfers using proper body mechanics and equipment
• Follow care plans and collaborate closely with nurses and interdisciplinary team members
• Maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for residents
• Communicate effectively with families and the care team to support resident-centered care

Qualifications

• Current GNA certification or equivalent required; Maryland certification preferred or eligibility for reciprocity
• CPR/BLS certification required or must obtain upon hire
• Previous experience in long-term care or geriatric settings preferred but new grads encouraged to apply
• Ability to pass background check, drug screen, and meet facility onboarding requirements
• Strong interpersonal skills and a compassionate, resident-first attitude

Education

• High school diploma or GED required
• Completion of an accredited GNA or nursing assistant training program preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Basic knowledge of geriatric care principles and dignity-focused support
• Proficiency in assisting with ADLs and safe transfer techniques
• Ability to take and record vital signs accurately
• Familiarity with infection control and safety protocols
• Comfortable with documentation and clear communication in the care team
• Patience and skills for working with residents who have dementia or cognitive impairment
