Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate hands-on care to geriatric residents, assisting with activities of daily living
- Monitor and record vital signs, reporting changes promptly to the nursing team
- Assist with mobility, transfers, bathing, grooming, and feeding with dignity and respect
- Support individualized care plans and contribute observations to care team discussions
- Maintain a safe, clean environment and follow infection control protocols
- Build trusting relationships with residents and families to enhance quality of life
Qualifications
- Valid GNA (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) certification — Maryland registration preferred or eligible
- Current BLS/CPR certification or willingness to obtain upon hire
- Ability to pass facility background check and drug screen
- Strong communication skills and a positive, patient-centered attitude
- Previous long-term care or geriatric experience preferred but enthusiastic new travelers welcome
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of an accredited GNA training program
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in ADL assistance: bathing, dressing, toileting, and feeding
- Proficient in taking and documenting vital signs and observational reporting
- Knowledgeable about infection control and safe patient handling
- Comfortable with electronic charting or willingness to learn facility system
- Great interpersonal skills and teamwork in fast-paced care settings
