Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate daily care to geriatric residents, supporting dignity and comfort
- Assist with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, toileting, and mobility
- Monitor residents for changes in condition and promptly report concerns to nursing staff
- Support recreational and social activities to promote resident engagement
- Maintain accurate documentation and follow facility care plans and procedures
- Work collaboratively with the care team to deliver consistent, person-centered care
Qualifications
- Current Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) certification or equivalent preferred
- Current CPR/BLS certification or willingness to obtain upon hire
- Prior experience in long-term care or geriatrics is a strong plus
- Ability to pass background check and drug screening as required
- Up-to-date immunizations per facility policy
- Reliable, compassionate, and team-oriented with strong communication skills
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- GNA or CNA certification preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Understanding of geriatric care principles and common age-related conditions
- Skilled in safe patient transfer and positioning techniques
- Basic charting and observation skills to communicate changes effectively
- Infection control, hand hygiene, and standard precautions
- Ability to follow care plans and work within interdisciplinary teams
