Roles & Responsibilities
- Assist patients with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, toileting) with dignity and respect
- Support mobility and safe transfers, reducing fall risk
- Monitor and report changes in patient condition to nursing staff promptly
- Help create a comfortable, home-like environment for residents
- Document care accurately and timely in the patient record
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to support rehabilitation goals
- Provide compassionate companionship and engage residents in meaningful activity
Qualifications
- GNA certification (required)
- Current CPR/BLS certification (or willing to obtain)
- Up-to-date immunizations and TB screening per facility policy
- Ability to pass background check and required health screenings
- Previous experience in long-term care, rehab, or geriatrics preferred
- Strong communication skills and a team-oriented attitude
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent; GNA certification required
Knowledge & Skills
- Comfortable assisting with ADLs and basic nursing tasks
- Knowledge of infection control and standard precautions
- Able to follow care plans and report observations clearly
- Good time management and the ability to prioritize resident needs
- Empathy and patience working with older adults and those in rehab
