Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate personal care to residents, including bathing, dressing, grooming and toileting
- Assist with activities of daily living and promote resident dignity and independence
- Take and record vital signs, report changes to the nursing team promptly
- Support safe transfers and mobility using proper body mechanics
- Document care accurately and communicate clearly during shift handoffs
- Collaborate with nurses and interdisciplinary team to deliver person-centered care
- Help maintain a clean, safe and welcoming environment for residents
Qualifications
- Current CNA certification (Certified Nursing Assistant) — state certification required
- CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain
- Up-to-date immunizations and ability to pass required health screenings
- Background check and drug screening clearance
- Compassionate attitude, strong communication skills, and a team-player mindset
- Previous long-term care or acute care experience encouraged but new CNAs are welcome
Education
- High school diploma or GED (preferred)
- Completion of an accredited CNA training program
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of basic nursing assistant duties and infection control practices
- Skill taking vital signs and observing/reporting resident changes
- Familiarity with ADLs, safe resident handling and transfer techniques
- Good communication skills for interacting with residents, families and staff
- Time management and the ability to prioritize resident needs
- Empathy, patience, and a commitment to resident dignity
