Roles & Responsibilities
- Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, and toileting with dignity and respect
- Support mobility and transfers safely, using proper body mechanics and assistive devices
- Take and record basic vital signs and report any significant changes to the nursing team
- Provide compassionate, person-centered care focused on comfort and quality of life
- Document resident care accurately and timely in the medical record
- Collaborate with nurses and rehabilitation staff to follow care plans and therapy goals
- Maintain a clean, safe environment and follow infection control practices
- Communicate clearly and courteously with residents, families, and team members
Qualifications
- Current GNA certification or equivalent as required by state
- State GNA registry or ability to register prior to start
- Basic Life Support (BLS) / CPR certification required
- Ability to pass background check, TB screening, and required immunizations
- Comfortable with resident lifting/transfers; ability to stand and move throughout shift
- Previous experience in long-term care or rehabilitation preferred but not mandatory
Education
- High school diploma or GED
- Completion of an accredited GNA / nursing assistant program
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of activities of daily living (ADLs) and eldercare best practices
- Basic vital signs measurement and reporting
- Infection control and proper use of PPE
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Compassionate bedside manner and patience with older adults
- Basic charting and documentation skills
