Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, and toileting with dignity and respect
• Support mobility and transfers safely, using proper body mechanics and assistive devices
• Take and record basic vital signs and report any significant changes to the nursing team
• Provide compassionate, person-centered care focused on comfort and quality of life
• Document resident care accurately and timely in the medical record
• Collaborate with nurses and rehabilitation staff to follow care plans and therapy goals
• Maintain a clean, safe environment and follow infection control practices
• Communicate clearly and courteously with residents, families, and team members

Qualifications

• Current GNA certification or equivalent as required by state
• State GNA registry or ability to register prior to start
• Basic Life Support (BLS) / CPR certification required
• Ability to pass background check, TB screening, and required immunizations
• Comfortable with resident lifting/transfers; ability to stand and move throughout shift
• Previous experience in long-term care or rehabilitation preferred but not mandatory

Education

• High school diploma or GED
• Completion of an accredited GNA / nursing assistant program

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of activities of daily living (ADLs) and eldercare best practices
• Basic vital signs measurement and reporting
• Infection control and proper use of PPE
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Compassionate bedside manner and patience with older adults
• Basic charting and documentation skills
