Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, hands-on care to residents by assisting with activities of daily living
- Monitor and record vital signs and report changes to the nursing team promptly
- Support mobility and transfer needs while following safe patient handling protocols
- Maintain clear, timely documentation to ensure continuity of care
- Follow infection prevention and safety procedures to protect patients and staff
- Collaborate with nurses and interdisciplinary team members to promote patient comfort and dignity
- Engage with residents and families to provide emotional support and build trust
Qualifications
- Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification
- Ability to obtain or hold state CNA credential in Maine as required
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred or willingness to obtain
- Current immunizations and ability to pass required health screenings
- Successful background check and drug screening as required by the facility
- Previous long-term care or skilled nursing experience is a plus
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completed accredited CNA training program
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled at assisting with ADLs including bathing, dressing, and toileting
- Comfortable taking and documenting vital signs accurately
- Strong communication skills with patients, families, and the care team
- Good time management and ability to prioritize patient needs
- Familiarity with infection control practices and patient safety standards
- Compassionate bedside manner and respect for patient dignity
