Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate direct patient care including bathing, dressing, and assistance with activities of daily living
- Take and record vital signs and report any changes in patient condition promptly
- Assist nursing staff with patient transfers and mobility to promote safety
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of care and observations
- Support mealtime assistance and ensure patients' nutritional needs are met
- Follow infection control protocols and facility policies to protect patients and staff
- Communicate clearly and kindly with patients and family members to deliver person-centered care
Qualifications
- Active CNA certification (Certified Nursing Assistant) — Maine certification preferred or eligibility to obtain
- Current basic life support (BLS) certification preferred
- Ability to pass background check and required health screenings
- Comfortable with lifting/assisting patients and performing physical care duties
- Previous CNA experience preferred but enthusiastic new grads are welcome to apply
Education
- High school diploma or GED
- Completion of an approved CNA training program
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong patient care and bedside manners that put patients at ease
- Ability to measure and document vital signs accurately
- Good communication skills for working with an interdisciplinary team
- Basic infection control and safety practices
- Time management and organizational skills to prioritize patient needs
- Familiarity with electronic charting or willingness to learn
