Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, hands-on personal care to residents, helping preserve dignity and comfort
- Assist with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, toileting and feeding
- Monitor and record vital signs and resident status accurately and promptly
- Support nursing staff with safe transfers, positioning and mobility assistance
- Maintain clear, timely documentation and communicate changes in condition to the care team
- Create a warm, respectful environment by building rapport with residents and families
- Follow facility policies, infection control and safety procedures to protect residents and staff
Qualifications
- Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification (or eligible for Maine reciprocity)
- Minimum practical experience working in long-term care or similar patient-care settings preferred
- Current BLS/CPR certification preferred or willingness to obtain upon hire
- Ability to pass background check, drug screen and meet facility immunization requirements
- Strong communication skills and a team-first attitude
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Current CNA certification
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in basic patient care, personal hygiene assistance and safe transfer techniques
- Accurate vital signs measurement and documentation
- Familiarity with electronic or paper charting and reporting changes in patient condition
- Knowledge of infection control practices and resident safety procedures
- Compassion, patience and excellent interpersonal skills for resident-centered care
