Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, person-centered care to geriatric patients to support their comfort and dignity
- Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility
- Take and record vital signs accurately and report any changes in condition to nursing staff
- Support rehabilitation activities and follow individualized care plans
- Document care and observations clearly and promptly in the patient record
- Collaborate with nurses and therapy teams to create a safe, healing environment
- Practice infection control and safety protocols to protect residents and staff
Qualifications
- Current Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) certification or equivalent in the state of Maryland
- Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification or willingness to obtain prior to start
- Comfortable assisting with mobility and transfers; safe lifting technique required
- Ability to pass background check and drug screening as required by facility
- Strong communication skills and a compassionate, team-oriented attitude
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completed GNA training program or state-recognized certification
Knowledge & Skills
- Understanding of geriatric care principles and common age-related conditions
- Proficiency taking vital signs and recognizing changes in patient status
- Familiarity with activities of daily living (ADL) assistance and rehab support
- Basic documentation skills and comfort with electronic or paper charting
- Infection control, patient safety, and mobility/transfer techniques
- Excellent interpersonal skills, patience, and empathy
