Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, person-centered care to geriatric patients to support their comfort and dignity
• Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility
• Take and record vital signs accurately and report any changes in condition to nursing staff
• Support rehabilitation activities and follow individualized care plans
• Document care and observations clearly and promptly in the patient record
• Collaborate with nurses and therapy teams to create a safe, healing environment
• Practice infection control and safety protocols to protect residents and staff

Qualifications

• Current Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) certification or equivalent in the state of Maryland
• Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification or willingness to obtain prior to start
• Comfortable assisting with mobility and transfers; safe lifting technique required
• Ability to pass background check and drug screening as required by facility
• Strong communication skills and a compassionate, team-oriented attitude

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Completed GNA training program or state-recognized certification

Knowledge & Skills

• Understanding of geriatric care principles and common age-related conditions
• Proficiency taking vital signs and recognizing changes in patient status
• Familiarity with activities of daily living (ADL) assistance and rehab support
• Basic documentation skills and comfort with electronic or paper charting
• Infection control, patient safety, and mobility/transfer techniques
• Excellent interpersonal skills, patience, and empathy
