Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate daily care to geriatric residents, supporting dignity and independence
• Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, and mobility
• Monitor and record vital signs, intake/output, and changes in condition with accuracy
• Document care and observations promptly and communicate concerns to the nursing team
• Support rehabilitation and restorative programs under the direction of licensed staff
• Maintain a safe, clean environment and follow infection control and safety protocols
• Build trusting relationships with residents and their families through respectful communication

Qualifications

• Active Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) certification or equivalent in the state of Maryland
• Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification preferred or must obtain upon hire
• Current immunizations and ability to pass required health screenings (TB, flu where applicable)
• Successful background check and clear employment verifications
• Previous experience in geriatric or long-term care settings preferred but enthusiastic new grads are welcome

Education

• High school diploma or GED required; GNA certification required

Knowledge & Skills

• Comfort and skill assisting with activities of daily living for older adults
• Strong observational and documentation skills
• Clear, compassionate communication with residents, families, and team members
• Basic knowledge of infection control, safety protocols, and resident rights
• Ability to handle multiple tasks, prioritize care, and work as part of a multidisciplinary team
• Familiarity with electronic charting or willingness to learn
