Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate daily care to geriatric residents, supporting dignity and independence
- Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, and mobility
- Monitor and record vital signs, intake/output, and changes in condition with accuracy
- Document care and observations promptly and communicate concerns to the nursing team
- Support rehabilitation and restorative programs under the direction of licensed staff
- Maintain a safe, clean environment and follow infection control and safety protocols
- Build trusting relationships with residents and their families through respectful communication
Qualifications
- Active Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) certification or equivalent in the state of Maryland
- Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification preferred or must obtain upon hire
- Current immunizations and ability to pass required health screenings (TB, flu where applicable)
- Successful background check and clear employment verifications
- Previous experience in geriatric or long-term care settings preferred but enthusiastic new grads are welcome
Education
- High school diploma or GED required; GNA certification required
Knowledge & Skills
- Comfort and skill assisting with activities of daily living for older adults
- Strong observational and documentation skills
- Clear, compassionate communication with residents, families, and team members
- Basic knowledge of infection control, safety protocols, and resident rights
- Ability to handle multiple tasks, prioritize care, and work as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Familiarity with electronic charting or willingness to learn
