Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate direct care to geriatric patients, assisting with daily living activities
- Monitor resident condition and report changes to nursing staff promptly
- Assist with safe transfers and mobility, using proper body mechanics
- Support mealtime assistance and ensure residents' nutritional needs are met
- Maintain accurate documentation of care and communicate with the interdisciplinary team
- Promote a respectful, dignified environment that supports independence and quality of life
Qualifications
- Current Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) certification required
- CPR/BLS certification preferred or willing to obtain
- Previous experience working with elderly or rehabilitation populations is a plus
- Ability to pass background check, drug screen, and required health screenings
- Strong communication skills and a team-oriented attitude
- Up-to-date immunizations and TB screening as required by facility
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent; GNA certification required
Knowledge & Skills
- Understanding of geriatric care needs and common age-related conditions
- Patient safety practices, including safe transfer techniques
- Basic charting and documentation skills
- Ability to follow care plans and physician/nurse instructions
- Compassionate bedside manner and strong observational skills
- Time management and ability to prioritize resident needs
