Roles & Responsibilities
- Assist the registered Physical Therapist in implementing therapy plans and procedures
- Perform routine treatment procedures and therapeutic interventions with patients
- Observe, document, and report patient responses and progress to the supervising therapist
- Help maintain accurate patient records and documentation in accordance with facility policy
- Direct and guide Physical Therapy Aides during treatment when appropriate
- Maintain and prepare treatment areas and equipment to ensure patient safety
- Communicate patient progress and treatment needs with physicians in consultation with the supervising PT
- Participate in facility educational activities and continuous learning opportunities
Qualifications
- Graduation from an approved and accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program
- Current certification with the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) required
- Active Florida PTA license required for submission
- Ability to safely lift, turn, and transfer patients, including minimal assist transfers (ability to lift and control 50 pounds)
- Comfortable working under the supervision of a registered Physical Therapist and following Medicare and facility policies
Education
- Graduation from an approved and accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program
Knowledge & Skills
- Therapeutic intervention techniques and treatment procedures
- Safe patient transfer and mobility assistance
- Accurate documentation and charting skills
- Clear communication with physicians, therapists, patients, and caregivers
- Ability to direct and coach Physical Therapy Aides
- Familiarity with Medicare, private insurance, and rehab facility policies
