Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist the registered Physical Therapist in implementing therapy plans and procedures
• Perform routine treatment procedures and therapeutic interventions with patients
• Observe, document, and report patient responses and progress to the supervising therapist
• Help maintain accurate patient records and documentation in accordance with facility policy
• Direct and guide Physical Therapy Aides during treatment when appropriate
• Maintain and prepare treatment areas and equipment to ensure patient safety
• Communicate patient progress and treatment needs with physicians in consultation with the supervising PT
• Participate in facility educational activities and continuous learning opportunities

Qualifications

• Graduation from an approved and accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program
• Current certification with the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) required
• Active Florida PTA license required for submission
• Ability to safely lift, turn, and transfer patients, including minimal assist transfers (ability to lift and control 50 pounds)
• Comfortable working under the supervision of a registered Physical Therapist and following Medicare and facility policies

Education

• Graduation from an approved and accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program

Knowledge & Skills

• Therapeutic intervention techniques and treatment procedures
• Safe patient transfer and mobility assistance
• Accurate documentation and charting skills
• Clear communication with physicians, therapists, patients, and caregivers
• Ability to direct and coach Physical Therapy Aides
• Familiarity with Medicare, private insurance, and rehab facility policies
