Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, evidence-based nursing care for oncology and step-down patients
• Administer medications and chemotherapy safely when certified, following protocols and safety checks
• Monitor and respond to changes in patient condition, prioritizing patient safety and outcomes
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including physicians, pharmacy, and case management to coordinate care
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatment plans, and symptom management
• Maintain accurate documentation, certifications, and required verifications (e.g., Nursys, certification card)
• Support infection control and chemotherapy safety standards on the unit

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license with Nursys verification required
• Minimum 2 years experience in specialty (Oncology/Med-Surg/Step-down) required
• Certification card and current ACLS/BLS as applicable; chemotherapy certification preferred
• Complete, gap-free work history with no gaps greater than 60 days; references and skills checklist required
• Current badge-appropriate photo and demographic profile loaded into candidate portal

Knowledge & Skills

• Clinical expertise in oncology care, infusion/chemotherapy processes, and management of sickle cell complications
• Strong med-surg and step-down assessment skills, including early recognition of deterioration
• Safe medication administration practices and familiarity with chemo safety protocols
• Excellent communication, triage, and patient/family education skills
• Documentation accuracy and comfort with electronic health records
