Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, evidence-based nursing care for oncology and step-down patients
- Administer medications and chemotherapy safely when certified, following protocols and safety checks
- Monitor and respond to changes in patient condition, prioritizing patient safety and outcomes
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including physicians, pharmacy, and case management to coordinate care
- Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatment plans, and symptom management
- Maintain accurate documentation, certifications, and required verifications (e.g., Nursys, certification card)
- Support infection control and chemotherapy safety standards on the unit
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license with Nursys verification required
- Minimum 2 years experience in specialty (Oncology/Med-Surg/Step-down) required
- Certification card and current ACLS/BLS as applicable; chemotherapy certification preferred
- Complete, gap-free work history with no gaps greater than 60 days; references and skills checklist required
- Current badge-appropriate photo and demographic profile loaded into candidate portal
Knowledge & Skills
- Clinical expertise in oncology care, infusion/chemotherapy processes, and management of sickle cell complications
- Strong med-surg and step-down assessment skills, including early recognition of deterioration
- Safe medication administration practices and familiarity with chemo safety protocols
- Excellent communication, triage, and patient/family education skills
- Documentation accuracy and comfort with electronic health records
