Roles & Responsibilities
- Assist the registered Physical Therapist in delivering therapeutic interventions and treatment plans
- Perform routine treatment procedures and document patient responses and progress
- Safely lift, turn and transfer patients, ensuring comfort and minimizing risk
- Maintain clear, accurate treatment records and communicate relevant findings to the supervising PT
- Direct and guide Physical Therapy Aides during treatment sessions as appropriate
- Participate in facility educational activities and contribute to continuous improvement
- Communicate with physicians regarding patient progress in consultation with the supervising PT
Qualifications
- Graduation from an approved and accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program
- Current certification with the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA)
- Licensed as a Physical Therapist Assistant in the State of Washington
- Demonstrated ability to perform minimal assist transfers — lift and control up to 50 pounds
- Strong documentation and record-keeping skills
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, physicians, and the rehab team
Education
- Graduation from an approved and accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program (required)
Knowledge & Skills
- Therapeutic intervention techniques and routine treatment procedures
- Safe patient transfers and mobility assistance
- Thorough treatment documentation and charting
- Ability to assist and take direction from a registered Physical Therapist
- Patient education and effective interpersonal communication
- Experience directing Physical Therapy Aides and participating in educational activities
