Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality respiratory care and therapy to patients across acuity levels
• Assess respiratory status, interpret diagnostics, and develop treatment plans
• Manage ventilators, airway interventions, and oxygen therapy safely and effectively
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to optimize patient outcomes
• Perform and document respiratory procedures, ABG analysis, and patient education
• Maintain compliance with infection control, safety protocols, and facility policies
• Participate in competency testing and skills validation as required

Qualifications

• Active Respiratory Therapist license (state of Iowa) required — license/certificate verification will be completed
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications
• TNCC and NIHSS certifications as listed in the posting
• Successful completion of Trinity Specialty Specific Competency Testing and Trinity Skills Checklist
• Up-to-date immunizations and pre-employment health requirements (fit test, TB screening, COVID-19, MMR, Hep B, influenza, varicella, physical, drug screen)
• Previous clinical experience in acute care or hospital respiratory care preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of respiratory therapy principles, ventilator management, and airway care
• Skilled in arterial blood gas interpretation and respiratory diagnostics
• Familiarity with electronic medical records and accurate clinical documentation
• Excellent clinical judgment, critical thinking, and emergency response skills
• Clear communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with nurses, physicians, and allied staff
• Commitment to patient-centered care and infection prevention practices
