Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality telemetry and MedSurg nursing care for a mixed medical and cardiac patient population
- Monitor cardiac telemetry using Philips monitors and respond to arrhythmias and alarms promptly
- Administer and titrate drips safely (amiodarone, heparin, diltiazem, fixed-rate insulin, nitroglycerin, dopamine for renal dosing)
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members including RT and pharmacy to optimize patient outcomes
- Perform thorough documentation in Cerner and complete nurse read strips as required
- Deliver post-op cardiac care (post-cath, post-pacemaker, post-PCI, TAVR, CABG) with attention to early complications
- Educate patients and families on condition management, discharge planning, and self-care
- Float between units seamlessly while maintaining patient safety and unit workflows
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse license eligible for practice in California
- Minimum 2 years of clinical nursing experience (telemetry/MedSurg preferred)
- Current ACLS and BLS certifications required
- NIHSS certification required
- COVID-19 vaccination required
- Experience with Cerner charting and Philips telemetry monitoring preferred
- Comfortable with 12-hour day shifts, floating between units, and weekend rotations
Education
- Active RN license in California
- ADN or nursing diploma accepted; BSN preferred but not required
Knowledge & Skills
- Proficient in telemetry monitoring and interpretation of cardiac rhythms
- Skilled in IV/drip management and titration of cardiac and vasoactive medications
- Familiarity with post-op cardiac care and common cardiac procedures (PCI, TAVR, CABG, pacemakers)
- Experience managing respiratory support such as BiPAP/CPAP and recognizing respiratory distress
- Strong documentation skills in Cerner and ability to complete nurse read strips
- Ability to prioritize in a fast-paced acute care setting and work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team
- Knowledge of sepsis recognition and initial management
