Contract Type: Travel Contract

Shift Type: Rotating day/evening shifts (includes weekends); mixed 8- and 12-hour schedules. Typical day/evening windows: 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM, 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM, 8:30 AM - 9:00 PM. On-call nights as required (max 1-2 weeknights per 6-week schedule); guaranteed hours noted at 48 hours/week.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Recover post-anesthesia patients safely and compassionately across Phase 1 and Phase 2
• Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms, vital signs, and ventilator settings to detect changes quickly
• Manage pediatric recoveries and provide family-centered care for children following surgery
• Administer and monitor blood products and vasoactive medications (pressors) when required
• Collaborate closely with OR teams, anesthesia, RT, and inpatient units to ensure smooth transitions
• Document care accurately and efficiently in EPIC to maintain continuity and quality
• Float to inpatient units as needed to support staffing and patient needs
• Provide clear, timely call responses (30-minute response expectation) and participate in on-call coverage

Qualifications

• Active RN license (eligible to work in North Dakota); compact license holders accepted where applicable
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS (current)
• Minimum ~3 years clinical nursing experience preferred, PACU or post-op experience strongly preferred
• Comfortable caring for pediatric patients, vented patients, and those on pressors or receiving blood products
• Experience with EPIC charting and cardiac rhythm interpretation
• Ability to float to inpatient units and work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing or Nursing Diploma required; BSN preferred but not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong PACU skills including Phase 1 and Phase 2 recovery protocols
• Pediatric post-anesthesia care and family communication
• Ventilator/respiratory equipment familiarity (CPAP/BiPAP, wean to nasal cannula)
• Cardiac rhythm recognition and response
• Competence with EPIC electronic medical record system
• Ability to prioritize, multitask, and work efficiently in a fast-paced acute care setting
• Team-oriented mindset and excellent communication skills
