Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, evidence-based care to Cardiac PCU/Stepdown patients
• Perform cardiac drip titration safely and accurately according to protocols
• Manage cath lab recovery and observation patients with focused assessment
• Remove sheaths and monitor vascular access sites, ensuring hemostasis and patient comfort
• Document care thoroughly in Allscripts - Paragon to maintain continuity and quality
• Collaborate with physicians, techs, and interdisciplinary team members to optimize patient outcomes
• Respond to emergencies using ACLS and BLS skills when needed
• Educate patients and families about procedures, recovery expectations, and discharge planning

Qualifications

• Current, unrestricted RN license appropriate for practice in Texas
• ACLS and BLS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience (cardiac, PCU/stepdown, or med-surg preferred)
• Experience with cardiac drip titration and cath lab recovery
• Comfort and experience pulling sheaths and monitoring access sites
• Familiarity with Allscripts - Paragon or similar EMR systems
• Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills
• Ability to complete a 12-hour orientation as provided

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or Diploma acceptable) — BSN not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Cardiac monitoring and rhythm interpretation
• Cardiac drip titration protocols and infusion management
• Sheath removal technique and post-procedure site monitoring
• Med-surgical nursing fundamentals and stepdown care
• Cath lab recovery workflows and observation unit care
• Proficient documentation in Allscripts - Paragon
• ACLS and BLS emergency response
• Patient education and discharge planning
• Interdisciplinary teamwork and clear communication
