Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and monitor telemetry and MedSurg patients, interpreting cardiac rhythms accurately and promptly
• Administer set-rate drips (Cardizem, Amiodarone, Heparin) per policy and ensure medication safety
• Provide compassionate care to acute and post-surgical patients, including bariatrics and total joint populations
• Document thoroughly and efficiently in Cerner to maintain accurate patient records
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including RT and CNAs, to coordinate care and discharge planning
• Perform bedside shift report and hourly rounding to uphold evidence-based practices and patient safety
• Respond to low-census standby or float assignments (Mercy Downtown, other MS Tele units, ICU/ER holds) when needed

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing (state licensure required)
• Minimum 2 years of acute care nursing experience (telemetry/MedSurg experience required)
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications (NIHSS required)
• Comfortable reading and interpreting cardiac rhythms and working with GE telemetry monitors
• Experience or comfort with bariatric and post-surgical patient care; oncology exposure a plus
• Cerner charting experience preferred
• Ability to work nights, adhere to strict attendance expectations, and float as required

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN)
• BSN not required but welcomed

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry monitoring and cardiac rhythm interpretation
• MedSurg nursing fundamentals and post-operative care
• Set-rate drip knowledge (Cardizem, Amiodarone, Heparin)
• CPAP/BiPAP familiarity and coordination with RT
• Strong patient education, medication teaching, and documentation skills
• Team communication, prioritization in a fast-paced surgical unit, and adherence to protocols
