Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide expert cardiac telemetry care for a 24-bed stepdown unit, monitoring and interpreting EKGs
- Recognize and respond to dysrhythmias quickly and confidently to keep patients safe
- Administer ACLS and BLS interventions when indicated and coordinate resuscitation efforts
- Perform procedures such as Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes with strict sterile technique
- Document thorough, timely patient care in Cerner and communicate changes to the interdisciplinary team
- Collaborate with PCTs, RT and pharmacy to optimize patient outcomes and streamline care
- Participate in unit SIMs Lab, lifts, restraints and wound care training and demonstrate competency
- Float to other telemetry and neuro telemetry units as needed while maintaining high-quality care
Qualifications
- Active RN license in or eligible for Arizona (license to submit accepted)
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience; Level 1 trauma experience is required
- Current BLS and ACLS (AHA) certifications
- Proven telemetry experience with EKG interpretation and dysrhythmia recognition
- Competence in sterile technique; able to complete SIMs Lab for Foley insertion and central line dressing changes
- Comfort with CPAP and high-flow oxygen therapy and basic vent support knowledge
- Able to pass unit exams including dysrhythmia test (two attempts allowed) and day one orientation pass/fail assessments
- Travel requirements: own vehicle, natural hair color, no facial piercings, and men must be clean shaven for fit testing
Education
- Valid RN license (ADN or BSN acceptable); BSN not required per job notes
Knowledge & Skills
- Telemetry nursing and cardiac stepdown care
- EKG interpretation and dysrhythmia recognition
- Cerner EMR documentation
- ACLS and BLS protocols (AHA)
- Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing care with sterile field maintenance
- Philips monitor proficiency and telemetry alarm management
- CPAP and high-flow oxygen therapy familiarity
- IV insertion, wound care, patient lifts and safe restraint practices
