Roles & Responsibilities

• Interpret telemetry strips and document/sign findings at least once per shift to ensure safe cardiac monitoring
• Provide high-quality nursing care for telemetry/cardiac and medical-surgical patients (CHF, post-cath, respiratory, GI, diabetics, post-op total joint patients)
• Monitor patients on set-rate drips (e.g., Diltiazem/Cardizem) and follow unit protocols
• Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team including charge nurses, RTs, and monitor techs to deliver coordinated care
• Perform assessments, administer medications, and escalate changes in condition promptly
• Float to other units (East Campus/PCU) as needed while maintaining continuity and safety of care
• Participate in a concise orientation and rapidly adapt to Cerner charting with 12 orientation hours

Qualifications

• Active RN license (eligible to submit in Arizona required)
• BLS and ACLS certifications required prior to start
• Minimum 2 years of recent acute care/telemetry nursing experience
• Proven ability to read basic telemetry strips and dysrhythmia recognition — clinician must pass the dysrhythmia exam (80% within two attempts) prior to contract signing
• Experience with CVA/TIA patients and total joint replacement care preferred
• Cerner experience recommended due to a short orientation period
• Must meet radius/employment rules: within 50 miles and not employed (FT/PT/PRN) at any CommonSpirit facility (including CHI/Dignity) within the past year

Education

• Active RN license in good standing (Arizona)
• ADN or Nursing Diploma accepted (BSN not required)

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry monitoring and cardiac dysrhythmia recognition
• Telemetry strip interpretation and documentation
• Familiarity with Cerner charting system
• Basic respiratory support knowledge (BiPAP, CPAP, breathing treatments)
• Comfort caring for CHF, post-cath, respiratory, diabetic, and post-op joint patients
• Ability to work in 1:5 ratios and collaborate with monitor techs and nurse aides
