Roles & Responsibilities

• Monitor and interpret telemetry and EKG strips to rapidly identify changes in cardiac status
• Provide skilled nursing care for neuro and spine patients, applying specialty-focused assessment and interventions
• Document patient care accurately and efficiently in Cerner to ensure continuity of care
• Collaborate with PCTs, IV/PICC teams, RT, pharmacy, and hospitalists to coordinate safe, timely treatment
• Float between Tele and MedSurg units as needed, maintaining flexibility and unit coverage
• Participate in holiday and every-other-weekend rotations to support patient care continuity
• Maintain patient ratios and safely manage a 5:1 assignment as required by the unit

Qualifications

• Active RN license (eligible to practice in California)
• Minimum 4 years of clinical nursing experience (as noted on posting)
• At least 2 full years of solid telemetry nursing experience (required for night shift)
• Current BLS certification required
• ACLS certification required
• NIHSS certification required
• COVID vaccination required (per facility policy)
• Comfortable and competent reading EKG strips and caring for telemetry patients
• Experience with Cerner or similar EMR
• Ability to float between units and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Nursing Diploma acceptable; BSN not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry monitoring and EKG interpretation
• Care of neuro and spine patient populations
• Proficient charting and documentation in Cerner
• Familiarity with IV/PICC processes and working with IV teams
• Strong teamwork and communication skills with PCTs and ancillary services
• Ability to work with hospitalist/intensivist teams and follow established protocols
• Time management and prioritization in a 12-hour acute care environment
