Shift Type: Day shifts (manager-assigned), 6:30 AM - 7:00 PM, 12-hour shifts; scheduling set by manager (no guaranteed block scheduling). Every-other-weekend required and holiday coverage required. Guaranteed 36 hours per week.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive patient assessments and deliver high-quality med/surg and telemetry nursing care
• Monitor and interpret ECG strips and respond to telemetry changes with confidence
• Administer and manage respiratory supports including CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow oxygen therapy
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams — charge nurses, house supervisors, RTs, and PCTs — to optimize patient outcomes
• Document timely and accurate patient information in Paragon EHR
• Provide patient and family education for chronic conditions such as CHF, diabetes, CKD, and pneumonia
• Prioritize patient safety and maintain excellent time management on a busy 24-bed med/tele unit
• Float to other med/surg units as needed while maintaining continuity of care

Qualifications

• Current and active RN license (eligible to submit in Texas)
• Minimum 2 years of clinical nursing experience (med/surg/telemetry preferred)
• Current BLS certification required
• Comfortable and experienced reading ECG strips and working on telemetry
• Experience with CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow oxygen therapy
• Familiarity with Paragon EHR or similar documentation systems preferred
• Strong communication skills and proven time-management ability
• Willingness to float to med/surg units, work every-other-weekend and holiday coverage as required

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Nursing Diploma; BSN not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry monitoring and ECG interpretation
• Med/Surg nursing fundamentals and patient assessment
• Respiratory support devices: CPAP, BiPAP, high-flow oxygen
• Medication administration and titration awareness for common drips (unit-specific policies)
• Charting and documentation in Paragon EHR
• Team communication, prioritization, and delegation
• Infection control and acute care protocols
• Basic troubleshooting for monitor/telemetry alarms and escalation procedures
